Staging a brighter future: SMI turns over multi-functional stage for Kimlawis National High School
Teacher Gelemie Calacan of Kimlawis National High School (KNHS) couldn't hide her excitement as the school received a newly constructed muti-functional stage from Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI).
Situated in the hinterland of Barangay Kimlawis, in Kiblawan, Davao del Sur, KNHS which caters to the almost predominantly Blaan students, is one the recipient schools of SMI's various social development programs and activities within its Tampakan Copper-Gold Project.
In partnership with the host barangay and the municipal government, SMI allocated PhP 250,000 for the completion of the project under its Social Development Management Program (SDMP) for CY 2024, in time for the school's Foundation Day on February 26, 2025.
Another teacher, Ms. Jade Espinosa also expressed her gratitude to SMI, saying the gift from the company will go a long way in improving the learning environment in their school.
In 2023, SMI also funded the construction of additional building with two classrooms for the school where Grade 8 and 10 students are now comfortably using. (30)
