Tampakan, South Cotabato - "Og mag-ulan man gud, dili gyud sila katabok. Dili gyud sila maka-uli sa ilang areas hangtud dili mohinay ang baha" (It's very hard for our residents, especially when it rains. They have to wait for the flood to subside before they can go home).

Residents of Barangay Datalblao and local government officials of Columbio, Sultan Kudarat, expressed their thanks to Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) for helping them realize their dream for a safer access to schools, clinic, town's market and their homes.

For years, residents of this area have been risking their lives by crossing a creek in order to reach the barangay proper. But that is history now.

Through its 2022 Social Development and Management Program (SDMP), SMI has allocated PhP 200,000 for the construction of the 8-meter-long footbridge that will link 50 households in a far-flung sitio to the community center.

In a simple turnover ceremony held Wednesday, October 19, 2022, Barangay Chairwoman Evangeline Malid expressed her gratitude to SMI.  "Dako gyud kaayo ang tabang. Duna na 'tay project nga gikan sa SMI - footbridge, kana siya, maka-avail gyud ang tanang residente” (It's really a big help for us. Now that we already have a footbridge from SMI, every resident can now use it), Malid said.

Columbio Municipal Mayor Tondatu M. Mangudadatu also expressed his thanks to SMI for helping the local government deliver basic services to his constituents. "Napakalaking bagay po para sa ating mga kababayan, lalo na sa ating mga anak na tumatawid dyan papuntang eskwelahan. Napaka-delikado po kapag walang footbridge. On behalf of the local government of Columbio, maraming salamat po sa SMI. God bless!" (30)
