GEOLOGIST

To deliver timely, accurate and validated industry standard geological/ geotechnical data sets, reports, maps and sections for the drilling program and other related geological studies.
 
This is a seven (7) months project employment based in Tampakan.
 
Specific Personal Accountabilities:
  1. Sustainable Development Standards - Ensure effective implementation of the project’s sustainable development standards and systems within own area of responsibility to positively contribute to nurturing the organization’s culture on sustainable development.
  2. Program Management and Coordination - Assist the SMI Geologist in the effective management of geological/geotechnical/ hydrogeological program in the SMI tenements. Proper coordination of all activities with other relevant SMI departments, i.e., Safety, Security, Environment, ComRel, and others.
  3. Geological Program Implementation - Coordinate field implementation of geological programs for geotechnical / hydrogeological drilling and other related studies. Conduct geological (core/chips/sludge) and geotechnical drill logging. Ensure that appropriate interpretation of drilling data is undertaken, and results accurately reported. Ensure that drilling samples are appropriately handled, logged and processed in accordance with Geology SOPs.
  4. Reporting - On-time submission of required data sets, reports, with maps where required.
  5. Administrative Management - Effectively assist on the administrative requirements of own team, including SD and technical trainings; SMI events; supplies procurement; and day-to-day operations of own team. Ensure adherence to the procurement process for geology supplies.
  6. Cost Management - Ensure prudent and responsible cost management and expenditures are assigned the correct cost codes. All expenditures adhere to the project’s delegated authorities.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of BS Geology; Passed Geology Licensure Exam, with valid license
  • With at least two (2) years working experience as Geologist, preferably in Geotechnical and Hydrogeological drilling.
  • Geological, Geotechnical and Hydrogeological Drilling
  • Good in Technical Report writing
  • Knowledgeable in basic computer operation (MsOffice, PDF, GIS software)
  • With good Leadership, Teamwork, Work ethic / Self-development skills
  • With sense of accountability
  • Can relate to local community members
  • Adaptive to field-based activities
