Based in Tampakan, South Cotabato, this role will take the lead in managing the Operations of the Corporate Security Team in ensuring the safety and protection of all company personnel, assets, contractors and visitors; continually review the performance of security contractors; review and update security plans; undertake investigations, maintain corporate standards, conduct audits and ensuring all staff and security contractors promote best security practices across all areas of the operation.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Sustainable Development (SD) Practices – Provides direct and visible leadership within own area of responsibility through the effective use and demonstration of the Project’s sustainability standards and systems in all work activities.
  1. Corporate Security Strategy – Develops and implements key corporate security strategies, initiatives, and policies; and ensure that security practices comply with SMI’s commitment to the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights and national/local laws.
  1. Security Operations – Ensures efficient systems are in place and implemented for the on-going provision of various security services; organizes and manages the protection of staff, executives, and foreign visitors; conductssecurity monitoring and intelligence reporting.
  1. Security Planning – Designs and develops expanded security operations plan including infrastructure and personnel that supports the Project’s timelines, objectives and targets.
  1. Security Database Management – Develops a reliable information gathering relating to the security of the Project.
  1. External Networking - Liaises with government agencies and private organizations that work with community, military, police, other security-related groups.
  1. Cost Efficiency - Ensures prudent and responsible cost management within the area of responsibility.
  1. Report Compliance – Regularly submits required reports to include implementation and monitoring of milestones and KPIs.

Key requirements:

  1. A degree or formal training program in a military school or a related  field with  military or police training.
  1. Ten years of work experience in planning and managing security programs,3 years of which are in supervisory position in a corporate setting, preferably in a mining company.
  1. Solid exposure in military/police service, civilian or state protection service with vast exposure on threat analysis; and physical and data security.
  1. Knowledgeable in security contractors management.
  1. Understanding and application of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights.
  1. Demonstrated competencies in planning, organizing and coordination.
  1. Excellent in written and oral communications. Ability to converse in Visayan or other local languages is preferred. 
  1. High level of awareness in health, safety, environment and stakeholder engagement practices and standards.
  1. Proficient in MS Office application.
  1. Knowledgeable in training preparation, training needs analysis, matrix preparation, implementation and evaluation process.
