WATER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT SUPERINTENDENT

Based in Tampakan, South Cotabato, this is a regular position, tasked to lead the Water Resources Management section of the Project Engineering and Development Department, providing support to SMI’s operations enabling them to efficiently and sustainably utilize water resources.

Key responsibilities:

Sustainable Development (SD) Practices – Provide direct and visible leadership within own area of responsibility through the effective use of the project’s sustainability standards and system. Demonstrate compliance with the Company’s Sustainability policies, procedures, and standards in all work activities.

Environment – Provide support to the Mine Environment Protection and Enhancement section to ensure best practice environmental management appropriate to the scale and nature of the company’s impacts and risks, and that a culture of environmental accountability across the company is promoted.

Planning / Technical – Actively support the development of IEC programs through the provision of technical input related to water resources management in order to generate stakeholder understanding and support.

  • Develop and implement plans that will minimize the regional impacts on water resources, specifically  with respect  to aquatic ecosystems and surrounding community needs.
  • Work with SMI mining, exploration and other teams on water resources management issues and related infrastructure projects to provide technical information, guidance and recommendations.

Monitoring and Reporting – Direct and provide oversight for programs which monitor SMI's environmental performance in mitigating environmental risks pertaining to water resources management. Ensure data recording, analysis and reporting with a focus on continuous improvement of a risk control program.

Environmental Compliance – Interface with regulatory agencies, ascertain permitting requirements, and develop compliance plans.

  • Supervise compliance activities by overseeing the preparation of needed documentation and permit applications.
  • Ensure appropriate record keeping and submission of required reports, respond to regulatory actions, and implement effective follow-up measures to ensure that the Project obtains the necessary Environmental Compliance Certificate and related permits in a timely manner.

Key requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent in Sciences or Engineering discipline
  • Minimum of five (5) years of work experience in water management, preferably in a mining or industrial setting
  • Experience and demonstrated knowledge of water management principles and practices
  • Good in writing, organizational skills, presentation preparation and delivery skills
