SMI Donates Mobility Assistive Devices to PWDs, Senior Citizens of Columbio, Sultan Kudarat
TAMPAKAN, South Cotabato - The Municipal Department of Social Welfare and Development (MDSWD) and the Office of the Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA) in Columbio, Sultan Kudarat, lauded Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) for donating PhP 200,000-worth of walkers, cane, and hearing aids, intended for senior citizens and persons with disability in the municipality.
Last January 10, 2023, in a simple ceremony that was witnessed by Columbio Municipal Mayor Tondatu Mangudadatu and other local officials, SMI representatives led by Danilo Dueñas turned over ten (10) walkers, five (5) walking canes and eight (8) hearing aids to OSCA chief Susana Carbonell Feliciano, who said that the donated mobility assistive devices will be a big help for PWDs, senior citizens and other vulnerable members of their community.
"On behalf of Columbio OSCA, we are very much glad to receive the different items in front of us! This will be a direct help to our seniors, kasi pagpumunta sila ng office, nahihirapan na talaga silang tumayo, maglakad, kahit sa pag-receive ng kanilang mga pay-outs," the official said.
Columbio DSWD Head Precilita Ilagan also expressed her gratitude to SMI as many of the lolos and lolas in their municipality need walker to facilitate their mobility.
"Maraming, maraming salamat po sa mga biyaya na ito na ipinagkaloob ninyo sa amin. Sa ngalan po ng aming mga community members, daghang salamat po! We love you!"
Even though it is not yet operating, SMI has already poured more than PhP1.2 billion in financing various community development projects and activities that are aimed at advancing the socio–economic, health and educational conditions of the communities where the Tampakan Copper-Gold Project is located.
