Improving the Living Standards of SMI Host Community

TAMPAKAN, South Cotabato - Local officials and residents of Barangay Datalblao in Columbio, Sultan Kudarat, have expressed their gratitude to Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) for its continuous support and stable partnership in sustaining the BLGU's various community development projects.
Last February 16, 2023, SMI turned-over PhP1.5 million fund to the BLGU as first tranche of its commitment under the 2023 Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) that is aimed towards the sustained improvement of the living standards of the host and neighboring communities within its Tampakan Copper-Gold Project area.
The BLGU shall utilize the SDMP fund for the salaries of about 12 high school, daycare and Madrasah teachers; to provide farm inputs for a vegetable production project; and to enhance its health programs through the procurement of needed medicines and medical supplies and support for around 23 Barangay Health Workers and Midwives.
Officials from Barangay Treasurer’s Office and representatives of Datalblao Punong Barangay Evangeline Malid received the fund in a simple turnover ceremony.
Earlier this month, SMI also turned over in a separate ceremony PhP1.5 million to the host Municipality of Columbio in support of their planned livelihood, infrastructure, education, health, and other development projects for the year. (30)
