DepEd SOCCSKSARGEN recognizes support from partner SMI
Tampakan, South Cotabato -- The Department of Education (DepEd) Regional Office 12 has lauded Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) for its invaluable contribution and unending support to the agency's goals and aspirations for basic education, specifically in its host provinces of South Cotabato, Sarangani, and Sultan Kudarat.
The agency conveyed its appreciation to the mining company during DepEd's Regional Stakeholders Convergence 2024 held at Koronadal City on June 27, 2024.
During the Convergence, SMI External Affairs and Corporate Communications Manager Mr. Roy D. Antonio also led the turnover of various hygiene products such as bath soap, toothpaste, shampoo, and detergent soap for the region's athletes and officials who will be competing or participating in the upcoming 2024 Palarong Pambansa, which will be held in Cebu City next month.
DepEd's Programs and Services Section head Ismael Ngitngit, Jr. received the donation from SMI.
"Maraming, maraming salamat sa inyo SMI. Thank you very much for answering our call for partnership and convergence with the private sector,” Ngitngit said.
Under its annual Social Development and Management Program (SDMP), SMI partnered with the DepEd Region 12 in facilitating several projects, programs and activities in the region, such as the construction of school buildings, wage subsidies for teachers, provision of bottled water to students in Tampakan schools during the El Niño event, and scholarship programs benefiting thousands of elementary and high school students.
For School Year 2023-2024 alone, a total of 1,354 underprivileged but deserving students received scholarship grants from SMI.
