"Tulong Pangkabuhayan" - SMI aids micro, small businesses in Tampakan
Tampakan, South Cotabato -- Committed to fostering sustainable community growth in its host communities, Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) on Thursday extended assistance to sari-sari store owners in Barangay Poblacion, Tampakan, South Cotabato.
SMI allocated PhP 100,000 from its Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) to help revive Tampakan’s micro and small business enterprises that continue to be severely affected by the socio-economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The beneficiaries received livelihood aid worth PhP 10,000 each.
Punong Barangay Jose Nilo G. Vargas said “Hanggang ngayon, wala pa ring laman yung iba naming mga tindahan. Walang kita ng tatlong taon, walang pambili ng paninda. Kaya lumapit kami kay (Community Development Superintendent) Julius Clarete ng SMI para humingi ng tulong.”
After the donation, the barangay local government expressed its gratitude to SMI for its “tulong pangkabuhayan” to their community.
As posted on their Facebook page, "Grateful and honored to announce the Community Enterprises Project by Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI). We extend our heartfelt thanks to SMI for this valuable partnership."
Aside from sari-sari store owners, SMI also announced it will provide PhP 120,000 financial assistance to balut, ice cream, and kakanin vendors in Tampakan. (30)
