Bayanihan para sa mga Magaaral ng Kiblawan: SMI provides free school supplies, learning equipment to learners in Kiblawan
Tampakan, South Cotabado - Committed to help improve the lives of its host and neighboring communities through access to educational opportunities, Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) recently provided school supplies and learning equipment to students in Kiblawan, Davao del Sur.
In time for the opening of the School Year 2024-2025, the mining company distributed free school supplies, to include notebooks, writing pads, ballpens, pencils, among others, to around 130 pupils of Nodilla Elementary School in Barangay Bulolsalo.
This initiative is in line with the nationwide Brigada Eskwela 2024’s theme of "Bayanihan Para Sa Matatag na Paaralan".It also aims to lessen the financial burden on the parents.
"This support has significantly benefited our learners as they begin the new school year, easing the burden on families and motivating our learners to excel academically," Nodilla Elementary School Head Teacher Johare Canacan said during the simple turn-over.
"Your partnership in our mission to provide quality education is deeply appreciated and makes a meaningful difference in the lives of our learners," he added.
Meanwhile, SMI also donated two (2) units of 40-inch television to Kisulan Elementary School to aid teachers raise the quality of instruction to young learners.
"We are grateful to Sagittarius Mines, Incorporated (SMI) for their incredible donations to Kisulan Elem. School. This will enhance the learning opportunities for our students," teacher Joanalyza Tapic shared.
Under its Social Development and Management Program (SDMP), SMI also provides financial aid and scholarship grants to talented and deserving students to give them access to educational opportunities that are not normally available to them.
Since 1997, the company had already invested more than PhP1.4 billion in financing various projects and activities that are aimed at improving the socio–economic, health and educational conditions of the communities where the Tampakan Project is located. (30)
