SMI Gives P1.5M Additional Funds to Foster Community Development Projects in Columbio
TAMPAKAN, South Cotabato - Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) on Friday, July 28, handed over additional Php1.5 million fund to the barangay local government unit of Datalblao, in Columbio, Sultan Kudarat - a testament of the mining firm's steadfast commitment to foster community development projects in its host municipalities.
Municipal Mayor Tondatu M. Mangudadatu and a representative from Mines and Geosciences Bureau-XII witnessed as Datalblao Punong Barangay Evangeline Malid received the fund from SMI, in a simple ceremony.
Last February 16, 2023, SMI turned-over PhP1.5 million fund to the BLGU as first tranche of its commitment under the 2023 Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) that is aimed towards the sustained improvement of the living standards of the host and neighboring communities within its Tampakan Copper-Gold Project area.
The BLGU shall utilize the SDMP fund for their planned livelihood, infrastructure, education, health, and other development projects for the year.
"Once again, thank you, SMI! Sa walang sawang pagtulong ninyo sa amin sa barangay at sa bayan ng Columbio," Barangay Chairperson Malid said.
SMI is the holder of a Financial or Technical Assistance Agreement with the Philippine Government to explore, develop and operate the Tampakan Copper-Gold Project, one of the largest undeveloped copper-gold deposits in the world.
