SMI Honored as Outstanding Partner at DepEd South Cotabato 2026 Stakeholders’ Convergence

Koronadal South Cotabato – Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) was recognized as one of the Outstanding Partners during the Department of Education (DepEd) South Cotabato 2026 Stakeholders’ Convergence, a prestigious gathering that honors organizations and institutions making significant contributions to the advancement of education across the province.

During the event, SMI received a Certificate of Recognition from the DepEd Schools Division of South Cotabato in acknowledgment of its invaluable support and commitment as a Dreamweaver Partner for School Year 2025–2026. The recognition highlights SMI’s continued efforts in promoting quality education and creating meaningful opportunities for learners, particularly in geographically isolated and disadvantaged communities.

The award was formally received on behalf of SMI by Community Relations Senior Superintendent Jocelyn Maria Hectin and Community Development Supervisor Lerita Malayon during the convergence held in Koronadal City last June 18, 2026.

The recognition underscores SMI’s enduring partnership with schools in South Cotabato and other host communities across neighboring provinces. Through various education programs and initiatives, the company has consistently helped address challenges faced by learners and educators in far-flung areas. Its support has contributed to creating more conducive learning environments, bridging resource gaps, and expanding opportunities that empower both students and teachers.

As a responsible mining company, SMI believes that education is a powerful catalyst for sustainable development. Its community investment initiatives are designed to support the holistic development of children and strengthen communities by ensuring that access to quality education remains a priority.

The recognition also reflects the value of collaboration between the private sector and educational institutions in advancing the welfare of learners. By fostering strong partnerships, SMI continues to help bring hope, inspiration, and opportunities to young students whose dreams and aspirations are shaped through education.

In a statement, Community Relations Senior Superintendent William Baang emphasized the importance of investing in education to create lasting change.

“Championing education in remote communities goes beyond providing assistance; it is about investing in the future of every child. We are honored to be recognized by DepEd and remain committed to supporting programs that create lasting positive impacts for learners and their communities,” Baang said.

SMI extends its gratitude to the Department of Education and its stakeholders for this meaningful recognition. The company remains steadfast in its mission to support educational development, bridge gaps in access to learning, and contribute to building a brighter and more inclusive future for the next generation.

Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) places education at the heart of its community development program, recognizing it as a vital pillar for long-term, inclusive growth. The company firmly believes that education is a true and enduring legacy—one that empowers individuals, strengthens communities, and creates opportunities that extend far beyond the life of the Tampakan Project. By investing in educational initiatives, SMI seeks to equip the youth and future generations in its host and neighboring communities with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to build sustainable livelihoods and drive their own development.
