Koronadal City — The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples-led Joint Monitoring Team (JMT) on Wednesday, May 6, conducted its monthly regular meeting aimed at strengthening collaboration between Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICCs) and Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI).
The meeting focused on addressing concerns and improving coordination involving communities covered under Certificate of Ancestral Domain Title (CADT) 108 and the operations of SMI in the Tampakan Project Area.
Presiding over the meeting was NCIP Provincial Officer Richard M. Trecero, together with representatives from CADT 108 chieftains and officials of SMI.

Discussions centered on issues affecting both the company’s activities and the welfare of indigenous communities, with stakeholders working together to resolve concerns through dialogue and existing agreements.
The JMT, an ad hoc body, was established to monitor the implementation of agreements under the Free and Prior Informed Consent (FPIC) Memorandum of Agreement between SMI and the Blaan ICCs of Danleg, Fule Bato, and Sbangken in Barangays Danlag, Pulabato, and Tablu, in Tampakan town.
Officials said the regular conduct of JMT meetings demonstrates the team’s continuing commitment to ensuring compliance with agreements while safeguarding the welfare and interests of both the indigenous communities and the company involved in the Tampakan Project. (30)
