Tampakan, South Cotabato – For every mother, seeing her children graduate and build a better future is a dream worth every sacrifice. For Roseminda D. Josol, a Barangay Health Worker (BHW) from Sitio Snip, Barangay Tablu, Tampakan, South Cotabato, that dream has become a reality. Through years of hard work and the scholarship assistance of Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI), she has witnessed all her children complete their education, a milestone that fills her heart with pride, gratitude, and hope for the future.
“Happy ako kay ang mga anak ko, naka benefit sa schoalraship na bigay ng SMI,” Roseminda shared, expressing her gratitude for the scholarship assistance that helped her children complete their studies. Today, all her children have graduated, and already working and helping support their family.
“Salamat sa company kay nagabigay sila ng benipisyo, maraming naka graduate dito sa Barangay Tablu at naging mga propesyunal, kasama doon ang mga anak ko,” she added.
For 25 years, Roseminda has also dedicated herself to serving her community as a Barangay Health Worker (BHW). SMI provides her with a monthly honorarium in recognition of her service, while the company’s assistance in allocating medicines to the barangay helps address the healthcare needs of residents.
“Aside sa tulong sa aming mga health workers, may binibigay din ang kumpanya na mga gamot at supplies sa aming health center dito, kaya maraming mga tao ang nakakabenefit sa mga programa ng kumpanya bata man o matanda,” she said.
Roseminda’s story reflects how community initiatives can create meaningful opportunities for families. Through scholarship assistance, health-related support, and other community development efforts, SMI contributes to initiatives that support the well-being of its host and neighboring communities.
These efforts complement the objectives of the Social Development and Management Program (SDMP), which promotes sustainable development in communities covered by Philippine mining regulations. As part of responsible mining, community development initiatives help address local needs and support opportunities for a better future.
“Ngayon, nakikita ko ang bunga ng partnership ng kumpanya at mga tao dito sa amin, yung mga anak ko nagtatrabaho na din at nakakatulong na sa amin,” she shared.
For Roseminda, SMI’s support has become part of her family’s journey toward success. Seeing her children graduate, work with the community, and begin contributing to their family makes years of hard work worthwhile.
