SMI rolls out swine raising program to host barangay in Tampakan
Tampakan, South Cotabato - Residents of Barangay Danlag in Tampakan, South Cotabato is now into backyard pig farming.
Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) recently rolled out its backyard swine raising and livelihood program aimed to alleviate hunger and supplement farmer earnings in its host barangay.
Under the rollover scheme of pig dispersal, SMI distributed piglets to 21 household beneficiaries, as well as feeds and other supplies for swine production.
"Masaya kami dahil nabigyan kami ng tulong mula sa SMI na pang capital o pasimula sa maliit na kabuhayan na babuyan," Danlag Punong Barangay Judith Magbanua said.
"Malaking tulong talaga sa amin, kasi kung mapaanak namin ang mga baboy, pwede namin mabenta ang mga biik at mapadami ang mga eto. Sa panahon ng emergency, mayroon kami madaling mapagkunan para sa pangangailangan," she added.
Early this year, SMI also extended assistance to sari-sari store owners in Barangay Poblacion to help revive the community’s micro and small business enterprises. (30)
