Tampakan, South Cotabato – Young learners of Danlag Elementary School face the school year with renewed hope and optimism after Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) distributed school supplies and slippers to daycare pupils and Grade 1–3 pupils.
The activity, held on September 22, 2026, at Danlag Elementary School in Barangay Danlag, Tampakan, was warmly welcomed by the school community, which expressed its appreciation for SMI’s continuing support and partnership with the school.
Lorena Garcia, Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Principal of Danlag Elementary School, expressed her gratitude to SMI for remembering the school’s young learners and for its continued support to the community.
“Thank you SMI for their kindness and support in providing school supplies to our learners,” Garcia said.
As one of the host communities of the Tampakan Project, Danlag has been part of SMI’s continuing community engagement and development initiatives. Through its Social Development and Management Program (SDMP), SMI has also supported the improvement of school facilities, including the rehabilitation and enhancement of the school stage of Danlag Elementary School, which serves as a venue for various school and community activities.
SMI continues to build partnerships with its host and neighboring communities through programs that support education, health, livelihood, and community development. As the Tampakan Project progresses toward its commercial operations, SMI looks forward to further strengthening these partnerships and expanding initiatives that can contribute to the well-being and aspirations of community members.
For SMI, responsible mining means creating value not only through mineral development, but also through meaningful partnerships that help communities move forward. By supporting education and responding to community needs, SMI hopes to help give children the tools and opportunities they need to learn, grow, and look ahead to a brighter future. (30)
