Tampakan, South Cotabato – On July 30, 2026, Barangay Kipalbig was filled with quiet but genuine gratitude as Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) turned over nutritional food supplies to the Barangay Local Government Unit, giving much-needed support to malnourished children and their families.
The assistance, provided through SMI’s Social Development and Management Program (SDMP), is part of the company’s ongoing effort to practice responsible mining by caring for the health and well-being of its host communities. Beyond the food itself, the initiative offers parents a renewed sense of hope and gives children a better chance at growing up healthy.
These nutritional supplies will boost the barangay’s existing feeding program, helping ensure that children receive regular, nourishing meals that support their growth, learning, and everyday activities.
Barangay Captain Rolando D. Malabuyoc shared his appreciation for SMI’s steady support to the community:
“Maraming salamat sa SMI sa kanilang walang sawang tulong dito sa aming barangay. Malaking tulong po ito sa ating mga mamamayan dito sa Barangay Kipalbig.”
For SMI, community health is a core part of responsible mining. Through its SDMP, the company continues to back programs that promote good nutrition and improve access to health services, recognizing that strong, healthy communities are vital to lasting development.
As children begin to enjoy more nutritious meals and families gain confidence in the days ahead, this initiative adds another meaningful chapter to SMI’s work in creating positive change.
Through responsible mining, the company invests not only in the future of the Tampakan Project, but also in the health, happiness, and dignity of the communities it serves—showing that real progress is seen in everyday smiles and in lives slowly, steadily uplifted. (30)
