Malungon, Sarangani Province – Reinforcing its commitment to creating lasting value for host and neighboring communities, Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) formally turned over a ₱2.1-million check to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Malungon under its 2026 Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) on July 20, 2026, at the Mayor’s Office, Municipal Compound, Malungon, Sarangani Province.
The check was formally received by Mayor Reynaldo “Bong” F. Constantino, who expressed his gratitude for SMI’s unwavering partnership with the municipality through the years.
“Salamat sa suporta ng SMI for almost 2 decades. Our sincere thanks to the top management and the company as a whole. Sana tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang ating samahan para sa ikauunlad ng bayan ng Malungon,” Mayor Constantino said.
The funding will support 2026 SMI-SDMP Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPAs) identified by the municipality, including ₱1.2 million for the augmentation of salaries for 10 teachers under the education program; ₱150,000 for livelihood skills training through the Alternative Learning System (ALS) Training Center covering electronics and welding, basic computer skills, and bamboo nursery development; ₱150,000 for supplemental feeding of identified malnourished preschool children; ₱250,000 for the review and implementation of the Barangay I CAN in Education Action Plan; ₱100,000 for the purchase of water potability testing equipment to strengthen health and sanitation services; and ₱250,000 to support the Malungon Bamboo Nursery Plantation.
The assistance reflects SMI’s steadfast commitment to responsible mining by ensuring that the benefits of development are shared with its host and neighboring communities. Through sustained investments in education, health, nutrition, livelihood, environmental stewardship, and essential community services, SMI continues to create opportunities that improve lives and strengthen local institutions.
