Tupi, South Cotabato – Sagittarius Mines Inc. (SMI) continues to show its strong commitment to community health and development by supporting meaningful and sustainable programs. As part of this effort, SMI actively supported the 1st Buntis Congress of Barangay Bololmala, Tupi, South Cotabato.
This meaningful event was held on July 28, 2025, at the Bololmala Gymnasium in Tupi, South Cotabato and was organized as part of their Nutrition Month culmination program. It was participated by pregnant women, parents, children, Day Care teachers, barangay and municipal health workers, RHU Tupi, barangay officials, and representatives from SMI.
The activity aimed to promote safe pregnancy, maternal care, family wellness, and overall well-being for both expectant mothers and their babies. with key sessions on breastfeeding and family planning.
The Buntis Congress is designed as a comprehensive maternal health initiative to educate, empower, and support pregnant women to ensure healthy pregnancies and positive outcomes for mothers and babies.
As part of its support, SMI distributed rice packs and Buntis Kits containing essential items for maternal health and care items aimed at supporting the health and well-being of both mother and baby during pregnancy.
“This kit will really help me in my pregnancy. Thank you to SMI for giving importance to me and my fellow pregnant women here in our barangay. Thank you for choosing us!” said Mary Joy Carlos, one of the beneficiaries.
Barangay Chairman Erlinda Simpao extended her heartfelt appreciation to Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) for its continued partnership and help to Barangay Local Government of Bololmola.
“SMI has always been a reliable partner, from providing medicines to supporting activities like this Buntis Congress. We truly appreciate their efforts in helping our community, especially our pregnant women,” Barangay Chairman Simpao said.
Through sustained and meaningful initiatives like this, SMI continues to empower communities and create a lasting positive impact across its host and neighboring areas within the Tampakan Project.
In his speech during the activity, Community Relations Department Senior Superintendent William Baang underscored that the Tampakan Copper-Gold Project is a national government project and that Sagittarius Mines, Inc. is the permittee tasks to provide the necessary financial investments and technical expertise to develop the mineral resources in Tampakan.
As a government partner, Mr. Baang highlighted the company’s role in supporting governments undertakings on health and other development initiatives consistent with the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) primarily under Goal 3: Ensuring healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
“This collaboration reflects our shared goal of improving lives by addressing the real needs of the people. We are honored to support the Buntis Congress and remain committed to building stronger, healthier communities” he said. (30)
