Tampakan, South Cotabato – Aimed at improving the learning conditions of students in its host barangay in Tampakan, South Cotabato, Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) recently provided chairs and school supplies to learners at Sitio Alyong Day Care Center, in Barangay Danlag.
The donation is part of SMI’s commitment to help boost the educational opportunities of its host communities through its Social Development and Management Program (SDMP).
Teacher Jun Rodel Maguay said the simple gift from SMI will go a long way in improving the learning environment in their school.
He said that without the intervention from the mining company, their 39 students have to contend with makeshift chairs, creating great discomfort that made focusing on their lessons extremely challenging.
“Masaya kami at nagpapasalamat sa Barangay at SMI at least makapag umpisa na kami ng klase, kasi may magamit na ang mga bata na upuan at mga school supplies,” Teacher Jun shared.
Meantime, Barangay Danlag Captain Judith Magbanua also expressed her gratitude to SMI for helping the barangay government in providing opportunities to their community. (30)
