Kimlawis, Davao del Sur — A day filled with smiles, gratitude, and renewed commitment to children’s welfare unfolded as Sagittarius Mines Inc. (SMI) conducted a meaningful outreach activity for the pupils of Kimlawis Elementary School on February 27, 2026.
The activity included the turnover of slippers and hygiene kits and the kick-off of the school’s feeding program, benefiting around 300 pupils from Kindergarten to Grade 6. The initiative aims to support the health and well-being of students while promoting proper hygiene and nutrition among young learners.
During the program, Nurse Benjamin Aligsao Jr., Occupational Health Nurse of SMI, gave a short orientation on the proper use of hygiene kits and emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness and eating healthy food to help children grow strong and stay active in school.
The pupils and teachers of Kimlawis Elementary School warmly welcomed the SMI team and expressed their appreciation for the company’s continued support to their school community.
Johare C. Canacan, School Head of Kimlawis Elementary School, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the assistance provided.
“We are truly thankful to Sagittarius Mines Inc. for their support. This initiative is a great help to our pupils and encourages them to practice proper hygiene and stay healthy while focusing on their studies,” Canacan said.
Rebecca P. Labuayan, PTA President of Kimlawis Elementary School, also conveyed her appreciation on behalf of the parents and the community.
“On behalf of the parents and families of our pupils, we sincerely thank SMI for their generosity and continued support to our children. Programs like this make a meaningful difference in their daily lives,” she shared.
Meanwhile, Nelsie Distura, Community Relations Supervisor of SMI, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting partner communities.
