Malungon, Sarangani – Bringing essential services closer to the community, Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) extended support to residents of Barangay Malabod through a medical mission and outreach program on August 29, 2026, at Barangay Gymnasium, Barangay Malabod, Malungon, Saragani Province.
In partnership with the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Malabod and Ronda Probinsya, the medical mission provided community members with access to medical consultations and essential medicines provided by SMI. The initiative helped bring much-needed healthcare services closer to families, particularly those who may have limited access to medical assistance.
“Dako kaayo among kalipay kay dako ang tabang sa SMI sa Barangay Malabod,” shared Barangay Captain Denerick Edo Sarona, expressing the community’s appreciation for SMI’s continued support.
Antonio Labuayan, a senior citizen and resident of Barangay Malabod, also expressed his appreciation for the assistance, particularly the medicines provided during the activity.
“Salamat kaayo sa SMI sa mga tambal nga gihatag ninyo. Dako kaayo ni’g tabang sa akoa, labi na kay importante kaayo ang tambal para sa among mga senior citizen,” he shared.
The initiative also reached the community’s young learners through the distribution of school supplies and slippers to elementary pupils, helping provide some of their basic needs for school. A feeding activity for children was likewise conducted, providing nutritious meals while promoting the importance of proper nutrition among young members of the community.
For SMI, these efforts reflect the value of working hand in hand with communities to address needs that matter most—from health and nutrition to education and the well-being of children.
As part of its commitment to responsible mining and sustainable community development, SMI continues to implement programs under its Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) in partnership with its host and neighboring communities. Through collaboration with local government units, community organizations, and other partners, SMI seeks to support initiatives that create meaningful and lasting benefits beyond its mining operations.
The activities in Malabod underscore SMI’s continuing commitment to being a responsible partner—listening to community needs, strengthening partnerships, and helping build healthier, better-supported, and more resilient communities. (30)
