Promoting Health and Hope: SMI Strengthens Community Wellness in Barangay Buto

Tampakan, South Cotabato — Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) recently reinforced its partnership with the local community by donating essential medicines, vitamins, and medical supplies to the Barangay Health Station of Barangay Buto, Tampakan, South Cotabato.

The turnover ceremony took place on October 10, 2025, at the Barangay Health Station, attended by Barangay Captain Ferdinand S. Encia, barangay health workers, and representatives from SMI.

This initiative aims to strengthen local healthcare services by ensuring a steady supply of medicines and nutritional supplements, particularly benefiting children, the elderly, pregnant women, and other vulnerable groups within the community.

Barangay Captain Ferdinand S. Encia expressed heartfelt gratitude to SMI for its ongoing support, emphasizing that the assistance directly addresses critical health needs of residents who cannot afford to purchase medicines independently.

“Lubos po kaming nagpapasalamat sa SMI sa patuloy nitong pagtulong sa Barangay Buto. Malaking bagay po ang mga gamot na ito, lalo na para sa mga residente naming walang kakayahang bumili ng sariling medisina, lalong-lalo na sa mga buntis at mga bata,” said Barangay Captain Encia.

This activity is part of the SMI–Community Partnership Program, a core pillar of Sagittarius Mines’ Social Development and Management Program (SDMP). It highlights the company’s dedication to building healthier and more resilient communities in its host and neighboring areas.

Through its ongoing health support programs, SMI delivers not only medical supplies but also a message of care, compassion, and hope to the people of Tampakan. (30)
