LGU Malungon and SMI Working Together Towards A Brighter Future

Tampakan, South Cotabato – The local government of Malungon in Sarangani province recently lauded Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) for its continuing support to the LGU’s initiatives and projects in raising the living standards in the municipality and empowering its constituents.

“Salamat sa aton nga partner – ang SMI. Padayon sa pagtinabangay para sa maayo nga buwas damlag sang aton mga kabataan” (Thank you so much to our partner – SMI. Let us continue to work together towards a brighter future for our children), said Municipal Mayor Maria Theresa Constantino during the turnover and dedication of the newly constructed Municipal Alternative Learning System (ALS) Training Center on Tuesday

Earlier this month, SMI turned over PhP2.1 Million to Malungon through the Office of the Municipal Treasurer to fund various LGU-SMI partnership programs and projects for the year 2023.

These included financial support to augment the needs of 12 teachers, providing provisions for the ALS livelihood program focusing on Out-of-School Youth, support to Health on Zero Open Defecation Program, support to Supplemental Feeding Program for pre-school children, the Barangay I CAN Education Program, and the Children Information Location Database (CHILD) project.

As one of the host communities of SMI’s Tampakan Copper-Gold Project, the municipality of Malungon is a beneficiary of SMI’s Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) to sustain its planned livelihood, infrastructure, education, health, and other community development projects. (30)
