Tampakan, South Cotabato – Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) proudly announces the commencement of 90 education program beneficiaries for Calendar Year 2025.
The mining firm said that out of 90 graduates, 14 hailed from Blaan Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICCs) of Sbangken, Salnaong, and Fule Bato in Tampakan, South Cotabato and Bongmal in Kimlawis, Davao del Sur.
Another 55 SMI education program beneficiaries hailed from the host and neighboring Barangays of Albagan, Danlag, Lampitak, Liberty, Pula Bato, and in Tampakan town; and nine from Barangays Malabod and Blaan in Malungon, Sarangani province.
In addition, 10 beneficiaries from the Barangays of Bulolsalo, Kimlawis and Cogon Bacaca in Kiblawan, Davao del Sur also graduated this year.
The neighboring Barangays of Datalblao in Columbio, Sultan Kudarat also produced two graduates.
Among these graduates, 20 completed their baccalaureate degree in Business Administration, 16 in Criminology, 12 in Secondary Education and 10 in the field of Agriculture, among others.
Under its Social Development and Management Program (SDMP), Sagittarius Mines, Inc. provides financial assistance consisting of monthly allowances and/or support to tuition fees to talented and deserving students particularly those from low-income or disadvantaged backgrounds, to ensure they have access to quality education they might otherwise not afford.
“Since 1997, the company had already invested more than PhP1.4 billion in financing various projects and activities that are aimed at improving the socio–economic, health and educational conditions of the communities where the Tampakan Project is located,” SMI said.
