Tampakan, South Cotabato — Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) continues to show its commitment to community welfare with the recent turnover of essential medicines including vitamins and assorted medical supplies as support to upcoming feeding programs in the Local Barangay Government Unit of Sta. Cruz, Tampakan, South Cotabato.
A simple turnover ceremony was held on June 27, 2025, at the Barangay Health Center of Sta. Cruz. The event was attended by barangay officials led by Barangay Captain Wilfredo M. Epe, barangay health workers headed by Jeselle M. Fernandez, and SMI representatives.
The initiative aims to strengthen basic health services by ensuring continuous availability of essential medicines to the barangays and improve nutritional status and health needs of children and other vulnerable sectors in the project area.
Barangay Captain Wilfredo M. Epe expressed her gratitude to SMI, saying: “Lubos po kaming nagpapasalamat sa Sagittarius Mines, Inc. sa tulong na ito. Napakalaking bagay po ito sa aming barangay, lalo na sa mga kababayan nating kulang sa access sa gamot at sapat na nutrisyon.”
“Ang ganitong klase ng suporta ay hindi lamang materyal, kundi nagbibigay din ng pag-asa sa aming mga mamamayan. Ramdam namin na hindi kami nakakalimutan. Sa tulong ng SMI, mas mapapalawak pa namin ang aming serbisyong pangkalusugan. Salamat sa SMI.” he added.
The SMI-Community Partnership is a major component of the mining firm’s Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) reflecting SMI’s broader mission of bringing sustainable care and support to its host and neighboring communities in Tampakan. By providing medicines and supporting nutrition programs, SMI helps bring health and hope closer to those who need it most.
