Tampakan, South Cotabato — Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) was honored by the Indigenous Peoples (IP) community of Barangay Liberty during the 2nd Kalon Nemeh Festival, held on September 16, 2025, as part of Barangay Liberty’s 75th Foundation Anniversary in Tampakan, South Cotabato.
The recognition highlighted SMI’s steadfast partnership in preserving culture, creating opportunities, and promoting inclusive growth for current and future generations.
During the IP Day celebration, the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Liberty and community leaders expressed deep gratitude to SMI for its ongoing support in education, livelihood, and cultural preservation programs.
They also acknowledged SMI’s significant contributions to sustainable development initiatives in Tampakan’s host communities.
In his speech, SMI representative Moreno Tagwalo expressed heartfelt thanks for the recognition and emphasized the importance of collaboration for lasting progress.
“Kami po sa SMI ay lubos na nagpapasalamat sa pagkilala ng ating mga kapatid na katutubo at ng buong Barangay Liberty. Ang hiling ng SMI ay magtulungan tayong lahat para sa ikabubuti ng ating komunidad,” he said.
He further highlighted the strength of partnerships with Indigenous Peoples, stating that sustainable development thrives on unity and shared responsibility:
“Naniniwala kami na sa pamamagitan ng pagkakaisa, mas mapapalakas natin ang ating komunidad. Kasama ninyo ang SMI sa pag-abot ng mas maliwanag na kinabukasan para sa lahat.”
