Permitting and Compliance Officer

The position shall be responsible in providing technical and administrative assistance to the Permitting and Compliance Team in securing Project Permits in accordance with the Project Development Plan of the Tampakan Copper-Gold Project and monitoring SMI’s compliance with the permitting regulatory and statutory requirements in maintaining the FTAA No. 02-95-XI-Amended.

This is a regular employment based in Tampakan, South Cotabato.

Key responsibilities:

Sustainable Development Standards
•Ensure effective implementation of the project’s sustainable development standards and systems within own area of responsibility to positively contribute to nurturing the organization’s culture on sustainable development.

Permitting and Compliance
•Facilitate the Permitting process and Compliances for FTAA 02-95-XI-Amended of the Tampakan Copper-Gold Project:
•Contribute to ensuring compliance with all mandatory government requirements;
•Secure all Project Permit requirements for the Tampakan Copper-Gold Project in coordination with the concerned teams
•Effective implementation of the Permitting Plans
•Facilitate administration and logistical requirements of all activities relative thereto
•Conduct leg work for permitting and compliance
•Represent SMI in meetings with the regulatory government agencies in the absence of the Permitting and Compliance Superintendent
•Provide support services based on the mandate of the Legal Department

Key requirements:
•College graduate, preferably Licensed Engineer
•At least 1-3 years working knowledge and experience in mine permitting and compliances requirements and processes at the national, regional and local levels
•Knowledgeable on mining, environmental and related laws, rules and regulations
•Legal research (on permitting and compliance)
•Familiar with infrastructure projects and process flow
•Proficient in Microsoft Office
•Data management
•Good oral and written communication skills
•Efficient and effective in dealing with government regulatory agencies
•Interpersonal relationship skills
•Innovative and resourceful
•Honest and reliable
•Goal/Output Oriented
•Works well under pressure with less supervision
•Excellent Organizational and Leadership Skill
•Has sense of responsibility and ownership of tasks
•Interpersonal skill ability to communicate and deal with national and regional government regulatory agencies, LGUs and all other Project external stakeholders.
