Junior Legal Officer

Role Overview: The position is responsible to assist the position manager in providing strategic legal support to meet the company’s evolving requirements for corporate, business and mining operations ensuring compliance with both regulatory and contractual obligations.

This is a regular employment based in Tampakan, South Cotabato.

Key responsibilities:

Sustainable Development Standards
•Ensure effective use of the Project’s safety and environment-friendly standards and systems within own area of responsibility to positively contribute to nurturing the organization’s sustainable development culture and in compliance with ISO 140001.

Strategic Legal Support
•Assist the Position Manager in providing strategic legal support to meet the company’s evolving requirements for corporate, business and mining operations ensuring compliance with both regulatory and contractual obligations.

Legal Compliance
•Assist the Position Manager in providing strategic legal support on the company’s compliance with corporate, business and mining regulatory and contractual obligations.

Legal Services
•Assist the Position Manager in: (a) managing the company’s actual and/or potential legal issues and risks arising from the day-to-day operations; (b) preparing, drafting, reviewing and revising pleadings and motions, correspondence, affidavits, policies, guidelines, and other legal documents; and (c) representing the company in cases for or against the company, and/or officers and employees in their official capacities before judicial and quasi-judicial tribunals.

Stakeholders Relation
•Identify, develop, maintain and manage good professional and business relationships with internal or external key individual or group stakeholders

Key requirements:
•At least 1-3 years of experience as in-house counsel or law firm associate with arbitration and litigation exposure
•Juris Doctor or Bachelor of Laws (Bar passer and a member of the Philippine Bar in good standing)
•Strong skills in legal compliance, permitting and compliance, legal risk assessment and management, litigation and case management, contract management, legal research, analysis, drafting, advice and opinion, and stakeholders’ engagements
•In-depth knowledge and understanding of mining, environmental, indigenous, civil, corporate or commercial, tax, labor, constitutional, data privacy, local government laws and implementing rules and regulations
•In-depth knowledge of judicial and quasi-judicial rules of procedures
•Strong research, analytical, writing, verbal and written communication, interpersonal, presentation, facilitation, networking, and negotiation skills
•Able to work under pressure and with minimal supervision
•Able to work independently and as part of a team
•Proficient in Filipino and English language
•Proficient (Beginner) in the Bisaya and Ilongo
•Proficient in MS applications
•Knowledgeable in ISO 14000:2015
•Strong interpersonal, organizational, planning and time management skills
•Analytical skill in solving complex problems
•Trustworthy with unquestionable integrity
•High sense of accountability and responsibility
•Goal focused and oriented
•Customer service oriented
