“Building Strong Foundations for Growing Minds” – Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) aids Day Care Centers in host Tampakan town

Tampakan, South Cotabato – Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) actively supports community development, including aiding day care centers, as part of its broader social development initiatives, aimed at addressing poverty and underdevelopment, through educational and child welfare projects such as day care centers.

Expressing its sustained commitment to uplifting its host communities, school supplies were distributed last July 8, 2025. The meaningful distribution activity benefited twenty-eight learners from two Day Centers in Barangay Palo 19, Tampakan, South Cotabato.

“We are deeply thankful to Sagittarius Mines, Inc. for extending their help to our learners. These supplies will be a great help for our children as they begin their education journey,” Divine Grace Day Care Center Teacher Marites Canlan said during the simple turnover ceremony.

The initiative was primarily part of SMI’s Social Development and Management Program (SDMP), an annual community development program within the company’s host and neighboring communities involving local governments and Indigenous cultural communities. This is SMI’s broader commitment to sustainable and responsible mining practices that include socio-economic development for its host communities.

“We sincerely hope that SMI continues to support those who are truly in need especially those day care centers who are located in far-flung areas,” Teacher Canlan added.

By supporting local day care centers, SMI continues to demonstrate its commitment to building stronger, more resilient communities associated with the Tampakan Project.

Sagittarius Mines, Inc. remains steadfast in its advocacy for education, recognizing it as a powerful tool in breaking the cycle of poverty and opening doors to a better future. (30)
