Columbio, Sultan Kudarat — What was once a dream fueled by determination and sacrifice has now become a mission of service for 33-year-old Ginalyn Malid Pelez, LPT of Sitio Lam-alis, Barangay Datalblao, Columbio, Sultan Kudarat.
Years ago, Ginalyn was once a beneficiary of the educational assistance program of Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI), a support that helped her continue her studies despite financial challenges.
“Scholar ako ng SMI noon, malaking tulong talaga sa akin pangbayad ng bills ko sa school,” Ginalyn recalled.
With the help she received, Ginalyn persevered and successfully earned her degree and became a Licensed Professional Teacher. Today, she proudly serves as a Day Care Worker in Sitio Lam-alis, where she now dedicates her time in shaping young minds and helping children take their first steps toward education.
For five years, Ginalyn has remained committed to nurturing children in her community, not only teaching them basic lessons, but also instilling confidence, discipline, and hope for a brighter future.
“5 years na ako as Day Care Worker, at masaya ako sa trabaho ko,” she shared.
Despite still waiting for an opportunity to secure a permanent teaching position in the Department of Education, Ginalyn continues to serve wholeheartedly. She expressed gratitude for the continued support of SMI through the monthly honorarium extended to educational workers in the community.
“Binibigyan kami ng honorarium ng SMI per month, malaking bagay ito pang tulong sa pang araw-araw naming gastusin, kaya napaka laki ng pasalamat ko sa SMI pati na din sa barangay Datalblao,” she added.
Ginalyn’s story is more than a story of success—it is a story of transformation. From being an educational assistance beneficiary supported by SMI, she has now become an inspiration and a source of hope for the next generation of learners in her community.
