Columbio, Sultan Kudarat — Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) continues to strengthen and sustain positive impact of collaboration and community empowerment and sustainable development to its host and neighboring communities through a meaningful celebration of Partnership Day with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Columbio, Sultan Kudarat as part of the vibrant week-long festivities of the Kastifun Festival.
The event was held on August 4, 2025, at the Municipal Hall grounds of Columbio and were attended by representatives from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), various business sectors across the municipality, and representatives from Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI).
The activity was organized to celebrate Partnership Day through sports as a holistic occasion that goes beyond physical activity to deepen relationships, foster positive values, and reinforce the purpose of partnerships through shared, meaningful experiences. Sports activities emphasize working together toward common goals, highlighting the strength of partnerships built on cooperation and mutual support.
The highlight of the day was capped by volleyball and basketball friendship games, where teams composed of players from the business community, uniformed personnel, and SMI employees competed in the spirit of fun, unity, and sportsmanship. The games were filled with cheers, laughter, and memorable moments further strengthening the bond between Sagittarius Mines Inc. (SMI) and the Local Government of Columbio.
Mayor Amirh M. Musali expressed his appreciation for the event, commending SMI for its efforts in sustaining the partnering with the municipality.
“We are thankful that SMI is here, and this Partnership Day truly built camaraderie among different sectors here in Columbio. It’s a celebration not only of the Kastifun Festival but also of the friendships and cooperation we continue to nurture,” Mayor Musali said.
“We hope that in the coming years, we can make this event even more memorable, with greater participation and more friendly games not only in basketball and volleyball, but in other sports and activities as well,” he added.
As a national government project permittee, Sagittarius Mines, Inc. reaffirmed its commitment to building lasting partnerships with local stakeholders, promoting responsible development, and creating shared value across its host and neighboring areas within the Tampakan Project. (30)
