SMI, MGB-12 and SRMA conduct school tour on responsible mining series in Tampakan
Tampakan, South Cotabato - Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI), in partnership with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) XII and the Soccsksargen Responsible Miners Association (SRMA) successfully conducted its series of school tour campaign to students and faculty members in Tampakan, South Cotabato.
Around 390 students and teachers from the Tampakan National High School on September 27, 2024, Tablu National High School (November 26), Danlag National High School (November 27), and Liberty National High School last November 28, 2024, have been enriched with understanding on how sustainable and responsible mining practices can coexist with environmental stewardship.
During the open forum students and teachers were given the chance to clarify and to ask further questions related to the topics presented.
"Kahit ako, sinasabi ko na kung ganito pala ang pagmimina, walang kaproble-problema. Kasi nga meron palang responsible mining. Bilib na bilib ako," Liberty National High School Principal Vicente C. Garces, Jr. shared.
"Talagang namulat kami sa responsible mining. Nawala ang aming takot kung sakaling matuloy na ang pagmimina dito sa amin sa Tampakan," Teacher Jose Deloria of Liberty National High School also said.
Dubbed as "Responsableng Minero School Tour: Understanding Sustainable Practices and Mineral Resources", the activity aimed to provide right information and instill awareness to students on responsible mining. (30)
