GIS SPECIALIST

The focus of this role is to provide geographic information system (GIS) and other related technical support to the Project Engineering and Development department and other SMI teams, as well as to effectively manage and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of the GIS database.

This is a regular role based in Polomolok, South Cotabato and will directly report to the Construction Engineering Superintendent.

Specific Personal Accountabilities:

Sustainable Development Practices – Ensure effective implementation of the project’s sustainable development standards and systems within own area of responsibility to positively contribute to nurturing the organization’s culture on sustainable development.

Safety and Health - Ensure adherence to Safety & Health policies and procedures to achieve targets that are set internally.

Environment- Ensure area of responsibility does not contribute to any environment incident. Ensure minimal consumption of resources that adversely affect the environment.

GIS Operations – Manage software and programs to create and maintain data and/or maps that can be combined with geographically referenced data essential to support requirements for Project Development.

Reporting and Compliance– Ensure adherence to relevant internal company policies and submission of periodic reports of accomplishment.

Cost Management – Ensure prudent and responsible cost management and expenditures are assigned the correct cost codes. All expenditures adhere to the project’s delegated authorities.

Key requirements:

  • At least college graduate (preferably Geography, Geosciences, IT or other related engineering courses, specifically Geodetic Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years work in GIS, preferably in a mining related environment.
  • High analytical thinking to effectively analyze information and databases
  • Profound GIS knowledge, as a GIS specialist is expected to work with various GIS tools
  • Ability to pay attention to details to work with databases and also analyze information
